Frankfurt Kitchen #2, Muswell Hill

Following the published success of 'Frankfurt Kitchen #1' on this website, Woodworks was commissioned by a new client to build another kitchen in the image of Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky's seminal 1926 design. In this case, all these kitchen units were constructed from birch plywood with the insides of the drawers and cupboards left unpainted to show off the natural woodgrain, sanded smooth and finished in hard wax oil.

This kitchen once again featured hand-made door handles and drawer pulls, beautifully crafted self-slide drawer boxes, solid timber sliding doors with laminated glass and recessed finger pulls, gas pistons to top cupboards as well as spaces in which to slot some of the aluminium hopper drawers sourced from one of the original 'Frankfurt Kitchens'.
